Sixteen Hours and Thirty Minutes

“Sixteen Hours and Thirty Minutes” is a triptych whose title records the time it took to execute the three paintings. The relatively slow passage of time contrasts with the focus of the paintings: a scribbled-out word found in my notebook. Painted slowly, with precision, and more than once, the work extends a gesture of respect toward those moments when our minds and hands produce failure and then quickly change course. Exhibited in “House of Failure,” Tashkeel Al Fahidi House, 2019.
