A handwritten, embroidered word cast in bronze, “Not Soft Not Hard” moves between the hardness of metal in contrast to soft fabric, the personal space of handwriting in contrast to typeset plaques and public text, and the status of bronze in contrast to humble cotton cloth and hand embroidery. Exhibited in “Portable Horizons” at Tashkeel in 2017 and “Textile Arts Center Community 10 Year Anniversary Exhibition” in Brooklyn, 2019.
